Our Client

Our client is a dynamic brand, marketing and advertising agency looking for an Account Director to join their team. 

The Account Director role

You will be setting the agenda; leading, planning and managing the activities of the account team which involves developing a long-term collaborative relationship with a Client, creating a climate where the unexpected is made real.

You will set the example to the whole team, providing motivation and inspiration. The people who make the agency such a special place to work all share the same values: being unexpected, truthful and fearless. Account Directors inspire others to get involved whilst going above and beyond.

  • Generates independent thinking and makes strong contributions to creative briefs, working in partnership with planners

  • Demonstrates a sound understanding of Clients’ business challenges, audience and competitors; helping others develop their own thinking

  • Leads, mentors and motivates the account team, setting the benchmark for behavior
  • Conducts appraisals and performance management
  • Takes responsibility for the medium term direction of the brand and ensures appropriate resource levels over this time period
  • Demonstrates professional and persuasive presentation skills that adapt to the audience and task, also helping others develop in this area

  • Owns day-to-day decision making and finds quick, effective solutions to problems
  • Able to judge when to act independently but still consults on major decisions and recommendations

  • Communicates with authority, professionalism and credibility
  • Is the first Client point of contact on strategic, creative and resource issues
  • Has a collaborative relationship with, and respect of, all other departments; taking responsibility for ensuring that the full Agency team is working together

  • Positively contributes to Agency life and culture beyond the scope of their account(s) When it comes to driving business forward an Account Director is fearless

6. Delivery

  • Ensures that the Agency is only working with realistic, timely and specific briefs from Client
  • Takes responsibility for team delivery; maintaining the highest standards to deliver on brief, on time and on budget
  • Identifies problems early, addresses openly and constantly manages Client expectations
  • Plans ahead, anticipating and managing day to day and future project workload, managing workload across the team
  • Remains calm and professional

7. Financial Understanding

  • Takes responsibility for income and profit, negotiating favourable fees and seeking out new income opportunities
  • Has broad commercial knowledge, both of how the Agency and the Client make money, as well as keeping up to date with relevant day to day business news
  • Resolves financial issues quickly and minimises write-offs, knowing when when to escalate commercial issues
  • Regularly reconciles profitability by project, finding areas of improvement for the next project

8. Resilience

  • Stays positive in the face of adversity and helps others to do so as well
  • Encourages ‘can do’ attitude in others

This is initially a contract role for 6 months with the high expectation of converting to a permanent position.
