The Client

Our client, a successful and growing company in the retail food industry, is looking for a Financial Controller  to take overall responsibility for the Financial running of their multi-site business.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will be reporting directly to the CEO. You will be hands on and take on full ownership for the finances of the business, which include the current sites, however as  our client has carefully thought out growth plans, you will also be expected to adopt and integrate new sites as they open.   You will have a bookkeeper reporting into you

Responsibilities

With some support, the role will involve weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, as well as a variety of Ad- Hoc duties. Some of these include:

  • Cash reconciliation across the sites
  • Review of site cashup sheetsWeekly extras / petty cash / comps report
  • Weekly trading report update
  • Weekly cashflow report update
  • Payroll tronc / service charge schedule preparation from cashup sheets
  • Approval of payroll reports for each site and dealing with any payroll issues
  • Approval of pension payments and dealing with any pension issues
  • Payroll report updateTax report updateApproval of tax balances
  • Processing of monthly invoicesUpdate of monthly management accounts for each site
  • Check supplier payments against reports and  margin management
  • VAT return for all companiesCompilation of material for statutory accounts and tax comps (prepared by external accountants)New site models including new site budget and spend updates, rent review discussions and bank/ finance discussions.
  • Possible group restructuring to consolidate payrolls and suppliers
  • Advise on IT systems and solutions across the business

Attributes and Skills:

  • Excellent relationship building skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified or equivalent
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
  • High attention to detail
